About the Role We are seeking highly skilled Distributed Systems Engineers to join our Data Platform team, focusing on developing and enhancing our infrastructure to support our ambitious objective of reaching 500 million users worldwide. As a Distributed Systems Engineer at arenaflex, you will play a critical role in designing, building, and operating our data platforms and tools, enabling our business functions to make data-driven decisions efficiently, securely, and effectively. We have several focus areas, including: Database Access Platform : Building and operating a scalable query gateway that facilitates data reflections to work at sub-millisecond latencies, enabling our microservices to store, consume, and manage their data more efficiently. Data Platform Infrastructure : Developing a common framework and tooling that enables arenaflex to rapidly innovate and provide cutting-edge data and analytics systems to the rest of the organization without building customized platforms for each new system. Big Data Compute : Providing a cloud-native platform for distributed data processing at arenaflex, supporting batch and real-time data processing, and offering sub-second latency for a specific class of queries. Big Data Orchestration : Offering a platform for planning, organizing, and executing big data jobs and workflows in a self-serve way, using cutting-edge technologies and moving towards event-driven and smart scheduling. Key Responsibilities As a Distributed Systems Engineer at arenaflex, your key responsibilities will include: Designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems features or applications, addressing real business needs at scale. Architecting and building a robust, scalable, and highly available distributed infrastructure, using programming languages such as Java or other object-oriented programming languages. Collaborating with engineers, product managers, and TPM across groups, driving cross-functional initiatives and contributing to the open-source community. Building and operating flexible, fault-tolerant, distributed systems, with expertise in multi-threading and experience with cloud-native technologies. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have: 2+ years of experience in building large-scale distributed systems features or applications. A BS in Computer Science or a related field. Experience in designing and developing RESTful web services. Proficiency in Java or other object-oriented programming languages. Experience with building and operating flexible, fault-tolerant, distributed systems. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience with cloud-native technologies, such as AWS or GCP. Knowledge of open-source technologies, such as Apache Spark, Presto, or Druid. Experience with containerization using Docker and orchestration using Kubernetes.
