About the Role We are looking for a creative and dedicated ESL teacher to join our team on a remote basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching English as a Second Language to parents using our Ventures curriculum. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, with a focus on adult education and parent engagement. The role is available for immediate commencement, and we are seeking candidates who can start as soon as possible. Key Responsibilities: Teach English as a Second Language to parents using the Ventures curriculum, with a focus on conversational skills, reading, writing, and comprehension. Help parents set and achieve their language learning goals, with regular progress monitoring and feedback. Maintain accurate records of parent attendance, progress, and goal achievement. Make phone calls to parents who miss two consecutive days of class, with follow-up support and encouragement. Collect and chart data on parent progress, administering informal surveys or assessments as needed. Submit weekly lesson plans, with clear objectives and outcomes. Perform other duties as assigned by the ESL Coordinator, consistent with the collective bargaining unit. Qualifications and Requirements Essential Qualifications: A valid Illinois Teacher Certificate (PEL) with an ESL endorsement (Bilingual certification is a plus). Experience working in Adult Education Programs, preferably with a focus on ESL or language instruction. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with parents and colleagues. Ability to work in a remote environment, with reliable technology and internet connectivity. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Education, Linguistics, or a related field. Experience with the Ventures curriculum or similar language instruction programs. Knowledge of language learning theories and best practices. Experience working with diverse populations, including parents and families from different cultural backgrounds.
