As a Media Operations Specialist, you will play a vital role in building the future of Disney's media business, working on the infrastructure that powers Disney's media, advertising, and distribution organizations. Job Overview We are seeking an experienced Media Operations Specialist to join our team as a Sports Content Ingest Operator. In this role, you will be responsible for the preparation, acquisition, processing, and documentation of various media formats and content, including the distribution of live programming. You will work closely with multiple colleagues and clients within and outside ESPN, including Production Control room staff, remote production teams, and external vendors. Your expertise will be essential in ensuring the successful delivery of Disney's entertainment and sports content to millions of people worldwide. Key Responsibilities Organize and distribute all server content used for recording and playback Validate video and audio quality during live and recorded programming, set up standards for incoming feeds, and clip/edit content for production and programming Demonstrate knowledge of all broadcast equipment and technology as assigned, including standard and high-definition operations, content management, linear and non-linear editing systems, encoding systems, server-based recording/playback devices, server networking, cassette player and content redundancy tasks, broadcast switches, radios, and media development Work in a fast-paced, high-pressure, and deadline-driven environment Demonstrate a fundamental understanding of editing techniques on non-linear systems Interpret complex information and communicate it to relevant staff in a clear and concise manner Measure audio and video signals to ensure quality control of ESPN-supported standards on all operations using extensive knowledge of broadcast techniques Investigate and effectively document any critical issues and/or resolutions Participate in training programs for self-professional development as well as regarding any relevant equipment and workflow changes within the operation May participate in training others in operational areas and generate training documentation Understand Closed Captioning systems and related workflows Collaborate with Technology teams to improve existing applications Provide critical thinking to daily operations Acquire and develop advanced skills in various operational areas to best support the coordination of operations Essential Qualifications At least 2 years of practical TV production experience at the large market or network level Ability to work late shifts, weekends, and holidays Flexibility to adjust shifts/days off and stay at work longer than required to accommodate projects and departmental goals Must demonstrate ability to perform tasks under close deadlines, work independently, and perform on simultaneous projects Ability to work as part of a team dynamic Excellent communication skills are a must Strong organizational, efficiency, and time management skills are required Must be willing and able to adapt to a constantly changing environment Candidates should have a good computer background (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc...) and strong communication skills High School Diploma or Equivalent Preferred Qualifications Active background in a live production environment, internship, or similar educational experience Knowledge of server-based recording/playback and non-linear editing systems like Quantel Understanding of format changes, EVS, transcoding systems, and file formats Bilingual (written and spoken) - English/Spanish Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Studio Production, Journalism, or related field Professional School Certification Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Disney, we are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for growth and development.
