About the Role We are looking for an experienced Music-Vocal Temporary Teacher to fill a 0.2 FTE position starting on September 11, 2023. This is a remote opportunity that requires a strong and diverse skillset in music-vocal instruction. As a temporary teacher, you will play a vital role in shaping the musical abilities of our students and contributing to the overall success of our music program. Key Responsibilities Develop lesson plans and instructional materials tailored to the needs of each pupil, adapting the District-approved curriculum to ensure effective learning. Translate lesson plans into engaging and developmentally appropriate learning experiences that foster academic and social growth. Establish and maintain high standards of pupil behavior, creating an effective learning atmosphere that promotes student success. Evaluate student progress, maintain accurate records, and prepare progress reports in a timely manner. Identify student needs, make referrals as necessary, and develop strategies for individual education plans to ensure inclusive and supportive learning. Communicate regularly with parents through various channels, including Schoology, newsletters, phone calls, emails, and conferences. Collaborate with colleagues and supervisors to achieve common goals and maintain a supportive and inclusive educational environment. Participate in professional development opportunities, including building and department meetings, formal coursework, workshops, and seminars to stay current with best teaching practices. Integrate technology into instruction to enhance student learning and engagement. Perform other duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to the success of the music program. Specific Responsibilities Work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, interacting with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community. Support and communicate effectively with other administrators and staff members. Respond to emergency situations with professionalism and composure. Understand, interpret, and follow school District policies and procedures. Plan and coordinate the work of paraprofessionals and volunteers in the classroom and on field trips, as needed. Provide input to the goal-setting process for paraprofessionals, contributing to their professional growth and development. Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you must possess: A demonstrated ability to apply appropriate skills in performing daily routines and instructional tasks. Proficiency in operating a computer, software, and necessary classroom technology to integrate technology into instruction. The ability to develop effective and positive working relationships with students, staff, administrators, parents, and the community. Professional composure and the ability to maintain a positive demeanor when dealing with a variety of personalities and situations. Initiative and the ability to function as a self-starter, taking ownership of your work and contributing to the music program's success. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to exchange information and receive work direction from coworkers and supervisors. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: A degree in Music or a related field. Previous experience in teaching music-vocal instruction, particularly in a public school setting. A Minnesota Teaching License with music endorsement.
