As an Engineer I - Network Services, you'll play a critical role in our business transformation, working on the design, implementation, and maintenance of our network services, security applications, and platform solutions. Key Responsibilities Ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of information and information systems by implementing robust security measures and protocols. Test and implement new or re-engineered network services, security applications, and platform solutions to drive business growth and innovation. Provide daily support and perform maintenance tasks for security infrastructure components, ensuring seamless operations and minimizing downtime. Collaborate with members of other infrastructure and applications teams to implement, maintain, and troubleshoot GEICO's security infrastructure systems, promoting a culture of teamwork and knowledge sharing. Triage, analyze, and perform root cause analysis for security and network-related issues, leveraging your technical expertise to resolve complex problems. Provide 24x7 after-hours on-call support and support for off-hour implementations as needed, demonstrating flexibility and a commitment to ensuring business continuity. Publish documentation for runbooks, as-builts, and design references, contributing to the development of our knowledge base and promoting transparency. Understand and promote network standards, reference architectures, and frameworks, staying up-to-date with industry best practices and emerging trends. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: A strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and core computer science concepts, with the ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems. Proficiency with Windows and Linux operating systems, with experience in configuring, troubleshooting, and maintaining these systems. Understanding of networking and network components, including subnets, DMZs, routers, switches, and firewalls, with the ability to design and implement secure network architectures. Awareness of the general cyber security threat landscape, including common vulnerabilities, exploits, social engineering, and malware, with a commitment to staying up-to-date with emerging threats and mitigation strategies. Familiarity with VB script, PowerShell, or other scripting languages, with the ability to automate tasks and processes. Strong problem-solving ability, with the capacity to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions. Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment, with a willingness to adapt to changing priorities and requirements. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge: Knowledge of common application architectures and communications protocols, with experience in designing and implementing scalable and secure applications. Strong coding skills, with the ability to produce high-quality code that is reusable and repeatable without being overly complex. Well-rounded experiences outside of the classroom with different technologies, resulting in projects that demonstrate strong engineering skills and abilities. Professional experience on collaboration platforms that support hybrid and cloud calling, voicemail, video, meetings, messaging, and events, or internship experience. Education and Experience To be considered for this role, you'll need: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience. Professional experience or internship experience in a related field, with a demonstrated ability to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world problems.
