Job Overview We are currently seeking an experienced German teacher to deliver engaging and interactive language instruction to students in a virtual setting. As a German teacher, you will be responsible for planning, delivering, and evaluating instruction based on specific VDOE Foreign Language standards, the ACTFL framework, and objectives established by CCPS. You will integrate classroom content into daily lesson plans, assist students in learning knowledge and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible citizens, and expose and engage students with specified world language literature, history, and culture of the target language. Key Responsibilities Plan and deliver world language curriculum content to students, using a variety of teaching methods and materials to engage students and promote language proficiency Assess student learning on an ongoing basis and alter instruction to meet group/individual needs, providing regular feedback and support to students Maintain order within the classroom setting in accordance with division guidelines regarding student behavior management, creating a positive and respectful learning environment Collaborate with other faculty in planning and delivering instruction to students, participating in district professional development and curriculum design Communicate regularly with parents, providing updates on student progress and involving them in the learning process Ensure compliance with existing applicable federal and state statutes and local policies, regulations, and guidelines related to public schools Demonstrate commitment to improving professional competence, staying up-to-date with best practices in language instruction and education Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a strong working knowledge of the concepts, principles, and methodologies of instruction, as well as a working knowledge of academic curriculum for assigned classes. You will also need to demonstrate the ability to develop instructional goals, design and deliver instruction, and assess students' learning. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as well as the ability to make decisions, analyze problems, and resolve conflicts. Requirements Must hold or be eligible for a Virginia teaching license with an endorsement in German Completed a state-approved teacher preparation program in German (or Career Switcher Program in German) Completed a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution along with a passing Praxis exam in German 5183 A bachelor's degree specific to German Hold a valid out-of-state license with a comparable endorsement Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience teaching German as a foreign language, particularly in a virtual setting Knowledge of the ACTFL framework and VDOE Foreign Language standards Familiarity with district curriculum and instructional materials Experience with technology integration in the classroom, including online learning platforms and educational software Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need to possess a range of skills and competencies, including: Strong knowledge of German language and culture Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to plan and deliver engaging and interactive lessons Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Strong problem-solving and conflict resolution skills Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Chesterfield County Public Schools, we are committed to supporting the ongoing professional development of our teachers.
