Job Overview We are currently seeking Upper Level Math and Science Instructors to teach Chemistry, Physics, and advanced math subjects such as Calculus, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, and Trigonometry. As a part-time Sylvan Instructor, you will be trained on our proprietary curriculum and provided with the tools and resources necessary to teach in a small group setting of 3:1. Our flexible scheduling allows for evening and weekend hours, making it an ideal opportunity for those looking to supplement their income or pursue a part-time career in education. Key Responsibilities Teach using Sylvan-based programs, adapting to the unique needs and learning styles of each student Supervise, interact with, and motivate students during instruction hours, providing guidance and support as needed Reward students for completed assignments, promoting a sense of accomplishment and reinforcing positive learning habits Evaluate and document student progress, identifying areas of strength and weakness and developing strategies for improvement Communicate student needs to the center director, ensuring that each child receives the support and resources necessary to succeed Inspire students to reach their full potential, fostering a love of learning and a growth mindset that will serve them well throughout their academic careers Develop rapport with students, establishing a fun and supportive learning environment that encourages engagement and participation Maintain a positive attitude and demonstrate enthusiasm for teaching and the Sylvan method, serving as a role model and inspiration to your students Requirements and Qualifications To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must possess a Bachelor's Degree or higher in a Science or Math field, with advanced knowledge and familiarity with teaching or tutoring in one or more of the following areas: Chemistry, Physics, Calculus, Algebra 1 & 2, Geometry, and Trigonometry. Teaching or tutoring experience is preferred, although we provide comprehensive training and support to ensure your success in the role. Strong communication skills and the ability to multi-task are essential, as you will be working with students, parents, and center staff to provide a seamless and supportive learning experience.
