Key Responsibilities Assist teaching staff in developing and implementing individualized plans to support students with special needs, including SPED goals, modifications, and accommodations. Provide literacy support to kindergarten students, including reading aloud, assisting with writing activities, and promoting language development. Help students with emotional and behavioral regulation, using evidence-based strategies and techniques. Assist with toileting needs, lifting, and other physical demands of the job, as required. Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in areas such as Autism support, emotional regulation, and non-violent crisis intervention. Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Maintain accurate records and communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other stakeholders. Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you will need: A minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent. Paraprofessional requirements as per ESSA, including 48 college credits or passing the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment (proof of qualification required). Strong knowledge of educational, behavioral, and emotional principles and techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate to adults and children of all ages and abilities. Current CPR certification and First Aid training. The ability to lift 50 pounds and assist with toileting needs. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience working with students with special needs, including Autism and Emotional Handicap. Knowledge of visual scheduling, communication systems, and other support strategies. Experience with non-violent crisis intervention and emotional regulation techniques. A degree or certification in a related field, such as education or special education.
