About Oak Park and River Forest High School Oak Park and River Forest High School, or OPRF, is a comprehensive public high school located in Oak Park, Illinois, a suburb eight miles due west of downtown Chicago. We are a one-school district, with the majority of our students coming from two sender districts, River Forest Public Schools District 90 and Oak Park Elementary School District 97. Job Summary We are seeking an experienced and passionate part-time math tutor to join our team. As a math tutor, you will provide academic support and instructional guidance to students who require assistance in various math subjects. Key Responsibilities Provide one-on-one tutoring and instructional support to students in various math subjects, including algebra, geometry, calculus, and statistics. Develop and implement effective tutoring strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with learning difficulties or special needs. Assess student progress and adjust tutoring plans accordingly to ensure students meet their academic goals. Communicate with students, parents, and teachers to ensure a collaborative approach to student support. Stay up-to-date with curriculum developments and best practices in math education to provide high-quality support to students. Contribute to a positive and inclusive learning environment that promotes academic excellence and social responsibility. Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: An Illinois Professional Educator License or equivalent teaching certification. Three or more years of teaching experience, preferably in a high school setting. Experience working with students of diverse backgrounds and abilities. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, parents, and teachers. Comfort with technology, including Zoom and Google Apps, to facilitate online tutoring sessions. Preferred Qualifications We welcome applications from candidates with: Experience in math education, particularly in high school settings. Knowledge of curriculum developments and best practices in math education. Experience working with students with learning difficulties or special needs. Fluency in multiple languages to support students from diverse linguistic backgrounds.
