Job Overview The Part-Time Switchboard Operator and Customer Care Representative will serve as the primary point of contact for incoming calls to our main lines, supporting all our financial services in a shared services model. This critical role requires a professional and efficient approach to call routing, responding to general inquiries, and providing backup support to our Customer Care team during peak periods, staff shortages, or special projects. Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities To excel in this position, you will be required to perform a range of duties, including: Answering and routing incoming calls to the appropriate department, branch, or staff member across all our financial services. Greeting callers professionally, following established scripts and service standards. Maintaining knowledge of all our departments, key contacts, and branch locations for efficient call transfers. Logging and reporting call routing trends and any frequent misdirected calls for process improvement. Customer Care Backup Support In addition to switchboard operations, you will provide timely and accurate information regarding our banking products, services, policies, and procedures. Your responsibilities will include: Assisting customers in navigating online banking systems and mobile apps, including troubleshooting and guiding them through processes. Addressing billing inquiries, account discrepancies, and resolving transactional issues. Investigating customer issues or concerns, ensuring that all problems are resolved in a professional and efficient manner. Escalating complex issues to appropriate departments or management when needed, maintaining clear communication with customers during the process. Following up with customers to ensure satisfaction and that issues are fully resolved. Handling inbound and outbound calls, emails, and chats with a high level of professionalism and empathy. Documenting all customer interactions, inquiries, and resolutions accurately, ensuring detailed case tracking. Maintaining a calm and positive attitude in high-pressure situations, striving to exceed customer expectations. Being familiar with our offerings and policies and ensuring accurate guidance is provided across all our financial services. Ensuring that customers are aware of relevant promotions, product changes, or bank-specific benefits that may apply to their accounts. Collaborating with internal teams, including operations, technical support, and product departments, to ensure seamless customer experiences. Providing feedback on customer issues or trends to help improve our services and customer service processes. Protecting the confidentiality of non-public customer information (NPCI) and the security of our information technology resources. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required; some college preferred. 1+ years of customer service or call center experience, preferably in banking or financial services. Strong communication skills, with a professional and friendly telephone manner. Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail. Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office and ability to learn multiple banking systems. Bilingual skills are a plus. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Previous experience working in a financial institution or banking environment. Knowledge of banking products, services, and policies. Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) software. Certifications in customer service or a related field.
