Job Overview The Chat Moderator position at blithequark is an exciting opportunity to work with a dynamic and growing community. As a Chat Moderator, you will be responsible for ensuring that our official Discord server remains a positive and respectful space for all members. This will involve moderating chat activity, enforcing community rules, and providing support to users. Key Responsibilities Modifying and deleting messages that violate community rules and guidelines Banning or muting users who repeatedly violate community rules, ensuring that our community remains a safe and respectful space for all members Investigating reports of rule violations and taking appropriate action, providing clear and concise explanations for any actions taken Providing support and guidance to community members, helping to resolve issues and answer questions in a timely and professional manner Collaborating with other moderators and community managers to ensure consistency and fairness in community management, sharing best practices and ideas for improving community engagement Staying up-to-date with community rules and guidelines, as well as any changes or updates to our Discord server, to ensure that you're always aware of the latest developments and can provide accurate guidance to community members Qualifications and Requirements To be successful in this role, you'll need to meet the following essential qualifications: Be at least 18 years of age or older Have a High School Diploma or GED, or equivalent qualification Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with community members and other moderators Be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment and able to make quick decisions, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple conversations simultaneously Have a strong understanding of community rules and guidelines, as well as the ability to enforce them fairly and consistently Be available to work on a part-time basis, with a flexible schedule that can accommodate the needs of our community Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are preferred: Previous experience in community management or moderation, with a proven track record of success in managing online communities Strong technical skills, including experience with Discord and other community management tools, as well as the ability to learn new software and systems quickly Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively, and to develop innovative solutions to complex problems Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong sense of initiative and a willingness to take on new challenges Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you'll need to possess the following skills and competencies: Communication skills : Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with community members and other moderators Problem-solving skills : Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively, and to develop innovative solutions to complex problems Technical skills : Strong technical skills, including experience with Discord and other community management tools, as well as the ability to learn new software and systems quickly Attention to detail : Strong attention to detail, with the ability to accurately enforce community rules and guidelines, and to identify and address potential issues before they become major problems Time management skills : Excellent time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple conversations simultaneously, while maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency Career Growth and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we're committed to helping our team members grow and develop in their careers.
