Position Overview In this role, you will be responsible for creating critical datasets and developing data pipelines that our Data Scientists and Analysts can rely on to drive business decisions. You will partner with cross-functional teams to solve complex and exciting challenges, and contribute to the development of an orchestration layer of complex data transformations. Key Responsibilities Use cutting-edge data engineering techniques to create critical datasets and develop data pipelines that drive business decisions Partner with Data Scientists, Analysts, and other engineers to solve complex and exciting challenges Contribute to the development of an orchestration layer of complex data transformations Develop and maintain data pipelines using Apache Airflow and other tools Write complex, highly optimized queries across large data sets using SQL, Java, Python, or Scala Develop real-time data streaming and processing using Kafka and/or Spark streaming Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements Develop and maintain documentation of data governance processes and practices Essential Qualifications 3+ years of experience in data engineering and analytics using Big Data Platforms like Spark, Hadoop, BigQuery Experience with creating real-time data streaming and processing using Kafka and/or Spark streaming Demonstrated expertise in writing complex, highly optimized queries across large data sets Strong programming skills in SQL, Java, Python, or Scala Experience with developing data pipelines using Apache Airflow Experience with public cloud platforms like Azure or Google Experience with distributed SQL query engines like Presto Experience with Relational Database platforms (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL, Informix, Oracle, etc.) Preferred Qualifications Experience with data governance and data quality practices Knowledge of data science and analytics trends Experience with data modeling and data warehousing Experience with Agile development methodologies Strong communication and collaboration skills Skills and Competencies Strong technical skills in data engineering and analytics Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple projects Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Strong communication and collaboration skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Walmart eCommerce, we are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for growth and development.
