Your key responsibilities will include: Handling incoming calls from members regarding questions about their prescription benefits, including copays, medication coverage, and prior authorization Understanding, applying, and communicating client-specific prescription benefit and pharmacy claim processing information to members, including formularies, clinical programs, and member out-of-pocket costs Educating members on how to best utilize their benefits and troubleshoot pharmacy claims in real-time Sending documents to providers electronically and following up with members through outbound calls as necessary Anticipating and addressing questions to prevent repeat calls and delivering superior service to our members Treating all customers with respect and empathy, protecting their personal health information, and abiding by all HIPAA regulations and confidentiality requirements Utilizing resources consistently to incorporate changes in our fast-paced environment and adapting to fluctuations in workload Effectively working and communicating with internal teams, such as other Customer Care team members, Prior Authorization, and Manual Claims Maintaining scheduled hours and demonstrating flexibility to aid in coverage, supporting the client mission statement in a professional manner Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: 2+ years of prior medical customer service experience, with a strong understanding of healthcare concepts and terminology Excellent phone etiquette and typing skills, with a minimum of 40 words per minute and 500 keystrokes per hour Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and internet, with the ability to review documents and navigate systems efficiently Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to hear needs and translate them into correct resolution steps Ability to balance quality with speed, navigate systems efficiently, and use resources to solve problems independently Reliability, including maintaining your schedule, consistently positive attitude, and professional behavior at all times Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience working in a remote or virtual environment, with a strong ability to work independently and manage your time effectively Knowledge of pharmacy benefits and prescription claim processing, with a strong understanding of formularies, clinical programs, and prior authorization Experience working with electronic health records and other healthcare software applications Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with members who speak languages other than English Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At blithequark, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
