Key Responsibilities The Senior Database Administrator will be responsible for a wide range of tasks, including but not limited to: Investigating daily database and application issues to ensure prompt resolution and minimal downtime. Playing a critical role in the documentation of existing systems and procedures, contributing to the continuous improvement of our database management practices. Assisting in the design, implementation, and support of standards and procedures for monitoring, scope management, maintenance, backups, and recovery. Supporting multiple databases in development, staging, and production environments across local and remote data centers. Ensuring high availability for SQL Server, including clustering, replication, and mirroring. Supporting application teams and resolving database issues in a timely and professional manner. Installing server-based application software in collaboration with system administrators. Installing and managing new software, updates, and patches to maintain system integrity and security. Creating and implementing best practices for stored procedures, triggers, packages, tables, and views. Optimizing database performance by analyzing and tuning stored procedures, creating indexes and views, and other optimization techniques as necessary. Designing and maintaining enterprise ETL processes using various ETL tools, including SSIS, .NET scripting, and T-SQL. Completing database maintenance tasks and generating system reports to inform decision-making. Creating and implementing security models to protect our database systems and associated applications. Participating in application development cycles to facilitate good database design and access practices. Planning, preparing, and testing backup and recovery procedures for all production databases. Monitoring databases for efficiency and periodically upgrading databases for optimal performance during scheduled downtime. Creating indexes and adjusting tuning parameters where necessary to enhance performance. Determining volumetric requirements to estimate new database sizes and planning accordingly for growth. Communicating plans to system administrators and other stakeholders. Being responsible for the security of database systems and all business/logical applications associated with them, including creating and maintaining database and application accounts, application/database patching, and database/application security auditing. Item monitoring for performance and health, participating in load test activities. Other duties as assigned by management. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field, such as Computer Science or Information Technology. Strong experience in client-server technology. Working knowledge of SQL Server. 5+ years of experience as a SQL DBA in enterprise, multi-site SQL Server environments. Intermediate to advanced skills with SSIS and T-SQL. Effective written and oral communication skills, as well as organizational and interpersonal skills. Willingness and proven ability to provide the highest level of customer support. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience with Microsoft Azure Technologies and Migrating databases into cloud environments. Reporting Services (SSRS) and Analysis Services (SSAS) experience. Experience with .NET scripting (C# or VB.NET) as well as PowerShell. Experience in the Automotive Industry. Experience in CRM systems. Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate directly with both clients and vendors. Strong mathematical and Algebraic skills. Ability to troubleshoot and resolve applications that interface with databases.
