As a Store Designer in our Chicago Plan Studio, you'll play a crucial role in crafting unique and inviting store designs that reflect our brand's values and exceed our customers' expectations. About the Role As a Store Designer, you'll be responsible for developing and executing store design strategies that drive business results and enhance the Starbucks Customer Experience. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to create exceptional store designs that not only meet but exceed our customers' expectations. Your creativity, technical skills, and attention to detail will be essential in bringing our brand to life through innovative and functional store designs. Key Responsibilities Develop and execute store design strategies through all phases of design, from schematic to construction documents, within individual store budgets and market requirements. Collaborate with studio team members to achieve group objectives, meeting target expectations on the number of stores and fulfilling all established time constraints. Create design documentation to support design intent per regional regulations, including schematic drawings and finish schedules. Manage the production of construction documents by internal and external designers and contractors, ensuring integrity and quality. Work effectively in a highly collaborative team environment, driving business results while adhering to Starbucks' core values. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as Interior Design, Environmental Design, or Engineering. Demonstrated 3D visualization skills and working knowledge of color and design principles. Experience in creating design concepts through execution, preferably in a retail or hospitality setting. Current knowledge of industry trends in retail and café design, including furniture and finishes. Working knowledge of building and safety codes and compliance issues. Excellent communication and project management skills, with the ability to drive design direction and changes. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following skills and experience will give you a competitive edge: CAD drafting experience using Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp software. Project management insight and experience managing construction documents. Experience working with external architects and/or design consultants. Proficiency in Adobe InDesign and rendering programs like Enscape. A background in retail, hospitality, or restaurant design or development.
