Job Overview As a Remote Teacher for the Visually Impaired, you will play a vital role in creating and implementing personalized learning plans that cater to the unique needs of each student. You will utilize virtual tools and platforms to deliver engaging online lessons, provide academic and emotional support, and collaborate with parents and other educators to ensure a comprehensive and inclusive learning experience. Key Responsibilities Create and follow Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) to meet each student's unique needs and goals Design and deliver engaging online lessons using virtual tools and platforms to promote academic excellence and social development Provide academic and emotional support to students, including regular progress monitoring and feedback Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to ensure they are informed about their child's progress and involved in the learning process Collaborate with other teachers and staff to build an inclusive learning environment that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion Stay up-to-date with best practices in special education and visual impairment, and participate in ongoing professional development to enhance your skills and knowledge Requirements and Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: Valid teaching certification in Visual Education in Illinois (or willingness to obtain) Experience working with students with visual impairments and other special needs Proven experience in creating and implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) Comfortable using online teaching tools and platforms, including virtual whiteboards, video conferencing software, and learning management systems Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Preferred qualifications include: Experience working in a remote or online teaching environment Knowledge of assistive technology and adaptive equipment for students with visual impairments Experience with curriculum development and implementation Bilingual or multilingual skills Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Patience and empathy : The ability to understand and support students with visual impairments and other special needs Flexibility and adaptability : The ability to adjust to changing circumstances and priorities in a remote teaching environment Technical skills : Proficiency in using online teaching tools and platforms, including virtual whiteboards, video conferencing software, and learning management systems Communication skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues Organizational skills : Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Career Growth and Learning Benefits At Workwarp, we are committed to supporting the ongoing professional development and growth of our educators.
