Key Responsibilities As a Wealth Mortgage Underwriting Senior Manager, your key responsibilities will include: Managing and developing a team of individual contributors (and managers depending on team scale) in roles with moderate to high complexity and risk Providing vision and setting direction for multiple high-impact initiatives, including high net worth and ultra-high net worth mortgage underwriting policy development and implementation, and risk-related deliverables Developing and implementing strategic solutions to ensure prudent credit decisions and a seamless mortgage experience for clients, advisors, and bankers Engaging and influencing stakeholders, internal partners, and peers associated with Wealth Underwriting functional area or who are affected by its outcomes Identifying and recommending opportunities for process improvement and risk control development within Wealth Mortgage Underwriting functions Interpreting and developing policies and procedures within Wealth Underwriting functional area for operations with moderate complexity within scope of responsibility Managing allocation of people and financial resources for Wealth Underwriting, including ongoing leadership for domestic and offshore staff to ensure commitments are met and align with strategic objectives in the business group Developing and guiding a culture of talent development to meet business objectives and strategy Engaging and influencing business heads, control management, risk, legal, and audit partners to successfully ensure appropriate management of business risk Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: 6+ years of wealth mortgage underwriting experience or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, or education 3+ years of management experience Relevant military experience is considered for veterans and transitioning service men and women Desired Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Wealth mortgage underwriting leader experience in a large, complex financial organization Demonstrated ability as a thought leader in mortgage underwriting and credit policy development for high net worth and ultra-high net worth segments Strong background and understanding of credit risk and mortgage operations Custom commercial and consumer credit underwriting experience Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop a team of underwriters Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders, internal partners, and peers Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and implement strategic solutions Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with multiple priorities and deadlines Strong understanding of credit risk and mortgage operations, with the ability to interpret and develop policies and procedures Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Wells Fargo, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
