FOIA Analyst I
Goldschmitt and Associates is searching for a FOIA Analyst I to provide FOIA support for policy and program offices within a government agency. This position involves managing FOIA requests, interpreting exemptions, and promoting transparency within the agency. Responsibilities Independently manage and process complex FOIA requests, conduct thorough record searches across various agency systems, evaluating exemptions, and determine appropriate redactions to ensure compliance with FOIA laws and agency policies Apply legal expertise to interpret FOIA exemptions, including those related to national security, personal privacy, and commercial information, and make informed decisions on disclosure and redaction Effectively communicate with requesters, agency staff, legal counsel, and other stakeholders to address FOIA inquiries, negotiate the scope of the request, and resolve complex issues Support required will involve various assistance-related duties to respond to requests for records, pursuant to the FOIA Review, organize, and analyze documents for production in response to FOIA requests, including determining responsive records, identifying confidential business information, intra-agency, pre-decisional and deliberative information or attorney work product, and personal identifying information Promote transparency within the government agency by disclosing non-exempt information directly to requestors and making proactive disclosures of non-exempt information readily accessible via the government online electronic reading room Appropriately apply Exemptions 1-7 when responding to FOIA requests Utilize FOIAXpress to manage and process FOIA requests Skills Possess at least 1 year of experience working in the FOIA field providing cradle to grave support to, or working directly for, a Government Agency Possess a working understanding of Exemptions 1-7 Possess prior experience utilizing FOIAXpress to manage and process FOIA requests Possess the ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance Strong research and analytical skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact with individuals at all organizational levels Ability to handle multiple tasks within specified deadlines Possess a Bachelor's degree Benefits 401(k) with immediate vesting Paid Federal Holidays Tuition Reimbursement Medical Insurance, including Vision and Dental Insurance Employer-Paid Short-Term and Long-Term Disability Employer Paid Life Insurance Supplemental Life Insurance FSA/HSA Programs Commuter Benefits Program Adoption Assistance Program Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Caregiver Support Program Health Advocacy Program Financial Wellbeing Support Company Overview Goldschmitt (G&A) offers a suite of services and solutions to support our clients with their complex business requirements.
