Head of AI Architecture – Personality & Memory Systems (Remote/Equity) – Amazon Store
Head of AI Architecture – Personality & Memory Systems American AI & Automation (AAIA) is building emotionally intelligent, behaviorally rich AI agents as part of our Consumer Products Division. We already have a dedicated cognitive/psychology lead (CPI) defining how our agents should behave — now we’re hiring a technical counterpart to make those systems real. We’re looking for a senior architect or applied AI engineer to own the infrastructure, architecture, and logic for long-term memory, behavioral layering, context retention, and identity continuity in our LLM-powered agents. This is a deeply technical role focused on pushing LLMs beyond chat , into agents with continuity, depth, personality, and history. What You’ll Build: A modular architecture for LLM-based agents with persistent identity and behavior Memory systems — episodic, semantic, and situational — for long-term context Behavioral layering engines that reflect personality, tone, and role dynamics Tools for internal state modeling, emotional consistency, and history tracking Retrieval pipelines, embedding systems, and prompt chaining strategies that scale Interfaces for collaboration with psychology, product, and engineering teams Systems that support evolving agents over days, weeks, months — not just sessions Ideal Background: 5+ years in machine learning, NLP, or applied AI systems engineering Hands-on experience with LLMs, embeddings, vector databases, prompt engineering You’ve built or architected memory systems, agent frameworks, or context persistence layers Strong understanding of LLM limitations and how to augment them with retrieval, logic, or tools Experience working on AI tools, games, companions, or emotionally-aware systems Collaborative mindset — you’ll be building alongside our Chief of Personality & Interaction (CPI) Bonus Points for Experience With: LangChain, Semantic Kernel, ReAct-style architectures, or custom agent frameworks Memory representation formats (e.g., summarization, key embedding, episodic tagging) Working with clinical or theoretical psychologists Prior work on AI therapy, conversational sims, or emotional agents Compensation: Monthly base: $12K–$25K/month depending on experience and scope Equity: up to 20–30% , depending on depth of involvement and system ownership Optional performance-based bonuses tied to retention, engagement, or system reusability What You’ll Get: Full technical ownership over a system most companies haven’t even started building Direct collaboration with experts in psychology, product, and LLM engineering A portfolio of consumer AI products to plug your system into A chance to build the behavioral backbone of emotionally resonant AI Remote-first, highly autonomous, zero-bureaucracy team environment If you’ve ever said, “LLMs are powerful, but they forget who they are five minutes in” — this is your opportunity to fix that. Send us past systems, experiments, diagrams, repos — anything that shows how you think. Job Types: Full-time, Contract Pay: $100.00 - $400.00 per hour Benefits: Work Location: Remote
