About University of Illinois Dual Credit Learning Accelerator: The Illinois Dual Credit Learning Accelerator, jointly hosted by the Office of Online Learning and Undergraduate Admissions, is an initiative that aims to provide high-quality academic opportunities for prospective Illinois public high school students interested in pursuing four-year degrees. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: ● Serve as a teacher of record and primary instructor for Dual Credit Culture of Disability course as an affiliate instructor with the University of Illinois. ● Efficiently set up courses within the Learning Management System (Canvas). ● Deliver LIVE synchronous lessons to students via web conferencing that are effective and based on student needs, incorporating research-based instructional practices at least twice a week. ● Work closely with the University of Illinois faculty liaison to interpret course requirements, adapt instructional materials for dual-credit learners, and ensure all content meets college-level rigor. ● Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all students and direct students towards additional resources as necessary. ● Maintain a safe and positive school environment using conflict resolution, collaboration, and positive reinforcement to create a beneficial early college experience. ● Keep detailed records including grade books, progress reports, lesson plans, attendance records, and discipline records. Communicate grades to university faculty in a timely manner according to the University’s semester grade reporting schedule. ● Build and sustain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, school administration, University colleagues, and other stakeholders through effective communication. ● Maintain confidentiality concerning all student information. Follow FERPA requirements of privacy for college students as standard practice. ● Attend and contribute to school activities as directed by the Administration such as professional development, staff meetings, teacher training, field trips, professional learning communities, and other face to face events. ● Participate in both individual training sessions with University of Illinois faculty liaison and required virtual pilot-wide training for all dual credit teachers (most likely held in June 2026). ● Maintain regular standing or by-appointment office hours to offer individualized academic support and foster student success as is standard on the college campus.. ● Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: ● Master’s degree in Disability Studies, Special Education, Education (including History or Social Studies Secondary Education), History/American History, Sociology, or Social Work would qualify with relevant course work. ● Current Illinois teaching license in all relevant content areas and grade bands (PEL) ● Current Illinois resident ● Strong content knowledge in disability rights and SPED legal history ● Proven ability to analyze student data to inform educational strategies ● Prior online teaching experience preferred ● Experience with Canvas Learning Management System preferred ● Proficient with software including Google Docs, MS Office Suite, Box, and Zoom ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills ● Understanding of and ability to manage confidential information ● Ability to work with a diverse and distributed student body and peer group ● Ability to pass state and federal background checks Apply tot his job
