HIM Data Integrity Specialist I
About the position The Data Integrity Specialist is responsible for managing the enterprise master patient index by understanding the enterprise master patient index, assist in coordinating with local systems to reduce/eliminate MPI duplicates, overlays, and perform account merges/unmerges. The Data Integrity Specialist is responsible for verification of name changes and to provide follow-up information to registration staff and leaders to reduce errors and improve registration process. The Data Integrity Specialist maintains data integrity for patient identification in core electronic medical record, downstream applications, MyChart and Health Information Exchanges (HIE), participates in management of health information management HIE consent to participate process, and identifies and links patients for electronic exchange of data with health information exchanges. Responsibilities • Monitors potential patient identification data integrity issues internally and across multiple external health information exchanges • Corrects patient identification data across the EMR, downstream systems and external HIEs to assure accurate clinical communication • Compares data between different locations and systems and then links patient records that are determined to be the same person assuring HIPAA compliant, clinical data sharing • Monitors patient identification data entry to ensure naming convention and MyChart proxy policy is followed; communicates to end users when the policy is not followed • Produces and circulates patient identification data integrity reports • Serves as a liaison between HIM, Patient Access, Clinical Areas and IS to monitor and resolve patient data integrity issues • Provides appropriate updates to all downstream systems and external HIE staff • Assists external and internal customers phone calls navigating our EMR, APPS, and ensuring data integrity • Creates medical record numbers when necessary to archive patient clinical data • Monitor consent process for patient participation in HIEs updating the record as required • Addresses and corrects demographic issues such as legal name changes; adoptions; death notifications and child protective services status • Assembles clinical information from disparate HIEs for inpatients and observation patients • Participates in the development of policies and procedures • Participates in the development and validation of training curriculum as it pertains to ongoing cleanup activities • Supports system migration to an EMPI, including identifying data integrity issues such as duplicates and overlays of records in multiple legacy systems • Monitors incoming direct messages from other organizations for linking of patient records and routing to appropriate provider and/or discipline • Reads legal documents to determine guardianship and/or CPS status • Participates in the EMPI on-call 24/hour emergency pager schedule Requirements • At least 2 years' experience in health information management or similar field • Two-year associate's degree or equivalent experience Nice-to-haves • Four-year bachelor's degree or equivalent experience • RHIT or RHIA credential Benefits • Employee portion of medical plan premiums are covered after 3 years • 4%-10% employee savings plan match based on tenure • Paid Parental Leave (up to 12 weeks) • Caregiver Leave • Adoption and surrogacy reimbursement Apply tot his job
