The Virtual Critical Care Registered Nurse works from the Pulse Center, located in Big Flats NY, to enable the care of critically ill patients in ICU beds across the Guthrie system. This position provides virtual support to bedside nurses and is an excellent opportunity for experienced nurses to use their critical care skills without the physical demand of a traditional ICU setting. This department utilizes self-scheduling, allowing our caregivers to select the shifts that work best for them and the team. • Provides professional nursing care for patients in a critical care environment utilizing telecommunication technology. • Collaborates with the bedside nurse to provide coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence-based quality care to patients and families. • Practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice. Qualifications • Registered Nurse licensed in both Pennsylvania and New York. • BSN in Nursing preferred. • CCRN or CCRN-E certification within two years of hire preferred with education and training provided. • BLS and ACLS certification required. Requirements • Five years of experience in critical care. • Must maintain BLS and ACLS certification. • Must meet the individual nursing unit specifications regarding educational requirements during employment. Benefits • Pay range for this position is $39.00 - $54.12 per hour plus per diem differential. Essential Functions • Utilizes clinical assessment skills and knowledge of EPIC and Sickbay functionality to monitor patients effectively and efficiently. • Employs critical thinking skills and specialized software to assess patients and address subtle signs of clinical deterioration. • Develops updates and coordinates the patients' plan of care to achieve patient goals and optimize outcomes. • Advocates for ethical and holistic care by partnering in care planning. • Fosters a learning environment for patients/families and other members of the healthcare team. • Manages assignment of complex patients and responds to routine, urgent, and emergent patient situations. • Engages in ongoing professional development and promotes a culture of inquiry. • Demonstrates leadership as change agents using collaborative leadership skills. • Monitors assigned critical care patients utilizing real-time, two-way, audio and video communication. Other Duties • Proficiency in Information Technology, such as electronic health records and communication systems. • Skilled to work with a wide range of staff as part of an interdisciplinary team. • Ability to use independent, critical judgment in all aspects of patient care delivery. • Demonstrated interpersonal skills that convey a positive and supportive attitude. • Ability to effectively manage multiple responsibilities and urgent responses. • Sufficient proficiency in speaking, reading, and writing the English language necessary for job performance.
