Job Summary: Key Responsibilities and Expectations As an Instructional Assistant - English Language Development, you will work under the direction of a certified teacher to support the academic success and language acquisition of students. Your primary responsibilities will include: Providing tutorial support to students in English Language Development, adapting instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners. Assisting the teacher in developing and implementing lesson plans, materials, and activities that promote language acquisition and academic achievement. Leading student exercises and activities, using a range of instructional strategies to engage students and promote learning. Maintaining accurate and detailed records of student progress, including clerical tasks and filing systems. Communicating effectively with students, teachers, and other staff members, using empathetic and disciplinarian approaches as needed. Developing and maintaining positive working relationships with students, staff, and parents, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Essential Qualifications: Education, Experience, and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: Ability to maintain clerical records and filing systems, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to make independent judgments within established policies and procedures, demonstrating a high degree of autonomy and decision-making. Ability to lead student exercises and activities, using a range of instructional strategies to engage students and promote learning. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and other staff members. Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and parents, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Working knowledge of oral and written English, with the ability to communicate effectively with students and staff. Bilingual skills (Spanish and/or Russian) are preferred, but not required. Preferred Qualifications: Additional Skills and Experience In addition to the essential qualifications, we are seeking candidates with the following preferred qualifications: Knowledge of spelling, punctuation, capitalization, word usage, and sentence construction in English, with the ability to detect and correct basic errors in prepared materials. Reasonable knowledge of office practices and procedures, with the ability to perform basic clerical tasks. Experience working with students in an educational setting, with a strong understanding of child development and learning principles. Demonstrated aptitude for working in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
