Landing Page CRO Specialist - Newsletter
Job Description We’re looking for an experienced Conversion Optimization Specialist to audit and improve every step of our subscriber and revenue funnel, from newsletter signup to upsell pages to our post-registration flow. This role is not for a beginner. We need someone who has done this dozens (ideally hundreds) of times, knows the exact playbook, and can immediately identify friction, weak messaging, layout issues, and conversion bottlenecks. Our audience skews older (55+), mobile-heavy, and responds best to clarity, authority, and story-driven persuasion. If you understand how to optimize funnels for this demographic and you’ve shipped proven results before, we want to work with you. What You’ll Be Doing We want a specialist who can take full ownership of funnel performance. Your responsibilities will include: 1. Deep Audit + Recommendations Full review of our newsletter landing page Analysis of our upsell pages, donation widgets, and follow-up pages Review of redirects, cross-sell flows, email capture logic, and CTA hierarchy Identification of friction points, unnecessary steps, and readability issues Clear roadmap prioritizing changes that will have the biggest impact 2. Funnel Redesign + Optimization Improve mobile layout, readability, and button hierarchy Rewrite, restructure, or simplify copy where needed Recommend design improvements based on CRO best practices Improve the clarity and persuasion of value props, benefits, social proof Tighten visual layout and reduce cognitive load Optimize for older readers: spacing, font size, contrast, scroll behavior 3. A/B Testing Strategy Recommend exact A/B tests to run: headlines, CTAs, layout variants Provide wireframes or mockups for alternative versions Help design a scalable testing plan we can repeat monthly 4. Post-Signup Optimization Review and optimize the “Thank you / Next Step” experience Improve the flow into our upsell or contribution pages Review redirect logic and email pass-through Recommend ways to improve conversions to donation/membership We are a conservative news publication so please be ok with that if you are applying.
