Job Summary The Lead Custodian is responsible for supervising the custodial staff, maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of assigned school buildings, facilities, and grounds, and ensuring the security and basic maintenance of equipment and facilities. The Lead Custodian will serve as the central point of contact for staff, students, and the general public, and will coordinate after-hours building use, respond to operational issues, and perform minor maintenance repairs. Key Responsibilities Supervise and train custodial staff, including performing cleaning inspections, modifying crew assignments, and keeping records Perform cleaning duties, including removing trash, cleaning and sanitizing classrooms, restrooms, hallways, and common areas Act as the central point of contact for staff, students, and the general public, responding to requests and directing individuals to appropriate areas Coordinate after-hours building use, including setting up, cleaning up, and locking/unlocking areas Respond to operational issues, equipment issues, hazards, and alarms during evening shifts Perform minor maintenance repairs to building and custodial equipment Maintain school grounds, including performing weed control, mowing, edging, and tree trimming Distribute freight and school materials, and handle teacher and staff requests for stored teaching supplies Respond to safety and security issues, including adverse weather, alarms, fires, water breaks, and chemical spills Requirements and Qualifications Essential Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required Minimum of one (1) year of experience in the custodial field Criminal background check required for hire Ability to successfully complete a pre-hire, post-offer physical examination Safety, pesticide, and AHERA (asbestos) training required within six months after entering position Hydraulic lift operation certification through the district required within 12 months after entering position Preferred Qualifications: Previous supervisory experience in a custodial or related field Experience working in a school or educational setting Knowledge of cleaning and maintenance procedures, including OSHA regulations Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Skills and Competencies To be successful in this role, you will need: Strong leadership and supervisory skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physical stamina to perform manual labor and work in a fast-paced environment Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks Basic knowledge of maintenance and repair procedures Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits Adams 12 Five Star Schools is committed to the growth and development of our employees.
