Learning and Leadership Development Specialist-YMCA of the Triangle
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Sr. Director of Learning & Leadership Experience, the Learning and Leadership Development Specialist is accountable for managing and optimizing learning programs and systems that support staff onboarding, training and professional development. This position will focus on leveraging the Learning Management System (LMS) and other learning tools to support effective learning strategies that meet individual and organizational needs. The Learning and Leadership Development Specialist is responsible for managing those functions in accordance with the stated mission and policies established by the administrative staff, governing committees, and Board of Directors of the YMCA. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Learning Operations & Program Support • Coordinates and supports program management for staff development, including training calendars, registration, class setup, materials, supplies, tracking, and reporting. • Assists with post-training follow-up, including communications and learner satisfaction surveys, to extend learning beyond the classroom. • Maintains comprehensive records of professional development activities, ensuring accurate, organized, and accessible tracking across the Association. • Provides logistical and system support to ensure facilitators have the resources needed to deliver effective and engaging learning experiences. Content Development & Training Support • Creates, updates, and implements training content in alignment with Association needs and learning priorities, • Supports the planning and execution of key learning events, including the Global Leadership Summit and the All4One annual staff meeting. • Promotes Y-USA leadership and program certifications and supports staff in accessing required learning pathways Learning Management Systems & Technology • Leads user experience improvements within the LMS, including software optimization, site architecture, content moderation, and taxonomy application. • Manages LMS partnerships (UKG, Y-USA Learning Center) to enhance access to virtual learning, self-paced modules, and innovative technology solutions. • Provides thought leadership in leveraging LMS capabilities and emerging technologies—including AI—to strengthen career and leadership development. • Develops and oversees LMS reporting processes, ensuring data-driven insights into learning effectiveness and utilization. • Serves as the Association’s LinkedIn Learning administrator, connecting courses to learning pathways and supporting staff in navigating the platform. Collaboration & Association Support • Coordinates host-site logistics for regional and Association learning events, positioning the YMCA as a leader in professional development. • Supports cross-departmental project teams to ensure smooth execution of learning initiatives and organizational events. • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor. QUALIFICATIONS: • Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred or 1-2 years experience managing and supporting Learning Management systems. • Experienced and passionate about creating and fostering communities and relationship building through programs. • Demonstrated experience in program and personnel development. • Ability to effectively manage staff and programs. • Exceptional oral, public speaking, and written communication skills. • Possess a high level of organization, ability to prioritize and possess the capacity to respond and handle multiple tasks appropriately in a dynamic and fast paced work environment. • Requires a positive attitude, high level of initiative and professionalism, and enjoy working in and creating a strong team environment. • Demonstrate initiative, effectively prioritize, and possess strong organizational, analytical, and project management skills. • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community. • Multi-lingual desired but not required. WORKING CONDITIONS: • This position follows a hybrid working schedule, typically three days in person at the designated base location and two days remote each week, with the flexibility to work at branches and programs across the YMCA of the Triangle as needed. • To work remotely, team members must maintain a dedicated, quiet, distraction-free workspace with reliable, high-speed internet and fully accessible during standard business hours. • Designations are determined based on the needs of the YMCA of the Triangle and may be modified at the organization's discretion.
