Maternal Health Nurse
The Maternal Health Nurse will use their proven nursing experience to provide direct client services to pregnant people to improve the health of children and families. QQualifications: ·Registered Nurse with an active license valid in the state of Iowa or a participating compact state ·1st Aid/CPR ·Knowledge of community resources preferred ·Experience providing nursing care in a home visitation setting, preferred ·Valid driver’s license; if operating personal vehicle for company use, must provide proof of adequate insurance ·Excellent organization skills with the ability to multi-task and work under pressure ·PC literate including use of Microsoft Office products EEssential Functions: ]f]>Conduct home health visits and preventative teaching with prenatal and postnatal women to identify and address client needs. ·Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized plans of care for diverse client populations, including providing case management services within and outside of the agency as needed. ·Design and participate in recruitment activities for the health pregnancy program, especially promoting increased awareness of services by educating the public and linking with other programs. ·Utilize funder-mandated databases to document encounters in electronic record. ·Assist Director of Public Health Service in documentation review to ensure compliance with Iowa Department of Public Health and Iowa Medicaid Enterprise Charting standards. · Able to observe and report accurately on the functioning of individuals and families ·Evaluate and document effectiveness and outcomes of client care. ·Provide on-site assessments of the childcare environment and/or program operations to assist providers in identifying and implementing health and safety improvement plans. Ability to establish trusting relationships and work effectively with mothers, fathers, extended family, and caregivers. ·Travel throughout Southwest Iowa to provide direct client services ·Respect for and sensitivity to the needs and rights of others, including those with differing cultural, racial, sexual, or ethnic identities. ·Understand and commit to Firefly’s mission. Promote the growth of Firefly by representing the organization, its mission, and its role in the community in a professional manner. ·Support other Public Health department functions, including occasional community outreach ·Maintain confidentiality of all families and team members. Other Skills and Requirements: ·Able to work flexible hours, which may include weekends and/or evenings as scheduled including supporting the Mobile Wellness Unit (MWU) ·Able to communicate both orally and in writing in English; fluency in Spanish is highly desired ·Must pass background check, pre-employment physical, TB screening and any other examination required by federal law and/or the State of Iowa ·Able to function independently with minimal supervision ·Seek opportunities to enhance one’s own professional knowledge, skills, and abilities as they relate to one’s current position and/or to prepare for potential future roles and overall career development Certifications, Licenses, Registrations not listed in qualifications: Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
