Coder is responsible for auditing practice and ambulatory surgery center (ASC) medical and billing records to ensure coding and operations compliance.Responsibilities include:Keep abreast of all government, commercial payer, and corporate coding policy additions, deletions, and changes.Review for accuracy in coding for services performed at facilities.Review for coding compliance with the ICD-10-CM and HCPCS/CPT coding guidelines.Review for coding compliance with CMS rules and regulations.Review for operational compliance to include verification of accurate posting of charges and timeliness of charge posting.Enter completed findings into database.Perform other duties and responsibilities as required, assigned, or requested.Qualifications:High school diploma or equivalent required.Minimum of 2 years' experience in a healthcare or medical billing office required demonstrating:Understanding of medical terminology.Experience verifying insurance with Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial payors.Experience in obtaining pre-authorizations and/or referrals from insurance carriers.Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook required.The Company is committed to the principles of equal employment.
