Regulatory Policy Analyst, OGC

The American Gas Association is seeking a Regulatory Policy Analyst to support the attorneys in their Office of General Counsel on various environmental law and regulatory matters impacting natural gas utilities. The role involves drafting summaries, responding to member inquiries, and contributing to the development of comments on regulatory rulemakings, while also assisting with meetings and member events. Responsibilities Monitor and report on federal and state rulemaking and policy actions related to the regulation of the natural gas industry and AGA members, with a primary focus on environmental and energy law and policy Contribute to the development of comments on regulatory rulemakings before federal and state entities on issues of interest to the natural gas industry and AGA member companies Draft summaries and analyses to keep members informed of litigation, regulatory, and legislative developments affecting natural gas utilities Attend and provide concise summaries of conferences, hearings, and briefings Maintain federal and regulatory content on the AGA and AGA committee websites Conduct independent research, develop analyses, and contribute collateral materials in support of policy proposals to advance AGA member interests as directed by the attorneys in the Office of General Counsel Assist in the preparation and review of reports, presentations, and other briefing materials for use in member outreach and communications Support staff executives to the AGA Environmental Regulatory Action Committee (ERAC), Environmental Matters Committee (EMC), and other committees managed by the OGC with all facets of committee management, including planning committee meeting content, maintaining committee rosters in AGA’s association management software, and maintaining and developing committee webpages Respond timely to member inquiries within the scope of this position In coordination with the attorneys in the AGA OGC, support AGA’s litigation efforts, including coordinating with outside counsel and assisting in-house counsel with all facets of litigation Assist in topic development and logistical preparation for AGA conferences and AGA member committee meetings and communications Present updates on recent environmental regulatory and policy developments to AGA committees Perform other duties as directed to support the mission of the AGA OGC Skills Excellent written and oral communication skills Effective computer and internet research capability Undergraduate degree in related field, or equivalent work experience, required Experience in a law firm, government, or trade association setting—with a focus on environmental or energy policy preferred Interest in administrative law and energy, environmental, and natural gas policy Benefits Paid Time Off Medical and Dental insurance Employer-paid Short- and Long-Term Disability Insurance, Group Term Life Insurance and AD&D Insurance 401(k) with employer matching, and non-elective contributions Educational assistance and more!
