[Remote] Business Immigration Consultant – Global (Americas Focus)

Tafapolsky & Smith LLP (T&S) is a mid-sized business immigration law firm seeking a Business Immigration Consultant to join their Americas team. The role focuses on supporting global immigration processes, particularly for Canadian immigration and advising corporate clients on cross-border mobility matters. Responsibilities • Manage end-to-end immigration processes for inbound work permits across the Americas, with a primary focus on Canada and additional exposure to LATAM jurisdictions • Coordinate document collection from clients, employees, and internal stakeholders across multiple countries and time zones • Prepare, review, and submit immigration applications in collaboration with local counsel and government authorities • Track government processing times and proactively manage delays, compliance risks, and requests for additional information • Conduct in-depth legal and procedural research to ensure ongoing compliance with local immigration laws and policy updates • Support business visa processing for international travel, including assessment of permissible activities versus work authorization requirements • Advise clients and internal teams on appropriate immigration pathways for short-term and long-term assignments • Draft and prepare immigration and business visa support letters, application forms, and country-specific documentation • Serve as a primary liaison with external counsel, visa agents, and government bodies to ensure timely filings and issue resolution • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, milestones, and reporting within the firm’s case management system • Provide clear, professional status updates to clients and stakeholders throughout the lifecycle of each case Skills • 2-3 years of experience in corporate immigration, global mobility, legal services, or consular services, preferably in a fast-paced, client-facing environment • Strong ability to manage multiple cases and competing deadlines with precision and attention to detail • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong client-service orientation • Proactive, adaptable, and solutions-focused, with a willingness to learn and support new jurisdictions as needed • Comfortable working in a collaborative, cross-functional, and globally distributed team environment • Demonstrated experience with Canadian immigration (work permits, LMIA-based and LMIA-exempt categories, ICTs, business visitors, extensions, etc.) strongly preferred • Exposure to broader Americas immigration systems (North and/or South America) is highly desirable • Familiarity with business visa requirements, consular processing, and country-specific documentation standards Benefits • 401(k) matching • Dental insurance • Flexible spending account • Health insurance • Life insurance • Paid time off • Vision insurance Company Overview • T&S is a boutique business immigration law firm with offices in San Francisco, Los Angeles, London, and Singapore dedicated to helping global businesses onboard the foreign national talent they need to innovate, compete, and grow.
