Key Responsibilities Guide high school students through the research and writing process, helping them to conceptualize, develop, and complete a small independent research project. Connect with students via video calls, providing personalized mentorship and support tailored to their needs and goals. Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment that encourages students to explore their interests and develop their skills. Help students develop their critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills through the research process. Provide constructive feedback on students' work and help them implement changes to improve their projects. Monitor student progress, identify areas where they need additional support, and know when to ask for assistance. Work flexibly in a start-up environment, adapting to changing circumstances and priorities as needed. Qualifications and Requirements To be considered for this role, you must meet the following essential qualifications: Currently employed as faculty at a US top 15 or UK top 10 university, or previously in academia and now working as a full-time researcher. A high degree of empathy and deep cross-cultural comfort when working with high school students from diverse backgrounds. Comfortable with receiving feedback and implementing changes to improve your mentorship and support. Flexible and able to work effectively in a start-up environment with changing priorities. Sound judgment and the ability to know when to ask for support to ensure the best outcomes for students. In addition to these essential qualifications, we prefer candidates with: Experience in mentoring or teaching students at various levels, including high school. A strong background in a relevant field of research, with a passion for sharing knowledge and expertise with others.
