Remote Special Counsel, Employment Law Texas $185K–$200K Base + Bonus | Unlimited PTO | No Business Development Highly Respected National Labor & Employment Law Firm Are you a seasoned Texas-barred employment attorney looking for sophisticated work without the pressure of business development? This is a rare opportunity to join a nationally recognized labor & employment law firm as Special Counsel, handling complex employer-side matters while working primarily remote. This role is ideal for senior litigators who want autonomy, flexibility, and meaningful legal work—without sacrificing compensation or quality of life. Key Responsibilities You will independently manage and resolve employer-side matters, including: • EPLI-covered employment litigation • Administrative agency matters (EEOC, TWC, DOL, etc.) • Attorney demand letters and pre-litigation disputes • Single-plaintiff employment litigation • Full litigation lifecycle: pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, mediations, and resolution • Strategic counseling and risk assessments for employer clients • Collaboration with a distributed legal team and support staff • Occasional in-person hearings, mediations, or proceedings within Texas, as needed Qualifications • 7–25 years of employment law experience • Prior law firm background required • Strong employer-side employment litigation experience • Demonstrated ability to manage cases autonomously from intake through resolution • Excellent legal writing, analysis, and client-facing communication skills • Comfortable working remotely with minimal supervision • Active bar admission in Texas (required) • Additional state bars a plus, but not required Compensation & Benefits • Base Salary: $185,000–$205,000 (depending on experience and billable mix) • Annual Bonus: Up to 10% • Billable Hours Target: 1,750–1,850 annually Core Benefits Include: • Unlimited Paid Time Off (PTO) • Medical, dental, and vision insurance • Paid parental leave • 401(k) with carve-out and profit-sharing • Life insurance & long-term disability coverage • Employee Assistance Program (EAP) Optional Perks: • Student loan refinancing support • Pet insurance • Critical illness, accident & hospital indemnity plans • Dependent life insurance If you’re a Texas-barred employment litigator seeking high-level work, national platform exposure, and true flexibility—without business development pressure—this role is worth a conversation.
