Renewable Energy Project & Feasibility Analyst (Solar Mini-Grid)
Location: Benin City, Edo State (On-ground / Local) About the Opportunity We are developing a community-scale solar mini-grid project in Edo State, starting with a 100-household pilot and designed to scale across the wider community. We are seeking a locally-based renewable energy professional to research, analyze, and advise on the most viable technical and financial approach for this project, and to produce accurate, itemized cost estimates for implementation. This role is research-driven and advisory — ideal for someone with hands-on experience or strong analytical grounding in solar power systems, mini-grids, and project costing within Nigeria. Key Responsibilities The selected candidate will be responsible for: Conducting on-ground and desk research for a solar mini-grid project in Urhonigbe, Edo State Advising on the best technical model (centralized mini-grid, hybrid options, battery sizing, inverter architecture, etc.) Producing a clear, item-by-item cost breakdown, including: Solar panels Battery storage systems Inverters and charge controllers Prepaid/smart meters Distribution infrastructure (cables, poles, meters, protection) Installation, logistics, and labor Ongoing operations and maintenance (O&M) Recommending reliable suppliers and installers within Edo State or Nigeria Estimating total project cost, cost per household, and phased expansion costs Advising on tariff implications and financial viability (high-level) Highlighting risks, regulatory considerations, and mitigation strategies Delivering findings in a clear written report with assumptions, calculations, and recommendations Expected Deliverables A feasibility and costing report for the 100-house pilot A recommended technical architecture with justifications A detailed Bill of Quantities (BoQ) with pricing ranges A scaling roadmap for expanding beyond the pilot phase Required Qualifications & Experience Applicants must meet the following: Based in Benin City or Edo State (mandatory) Background in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy, Energy Systems, or related field Demonstrable experience or strong knowledge of: Solar PV systems Battery energy storage (especially LiFePO₄) Mini-grids or off-grid energy systems Ability to prepare accurate cost estimates and technical breakdowns Familiarity with the solar market pricing, suppliers, and installers Strong analytical and documentation skills Ability to work independently and deliver structured reports Nice-to-Have (Strong Advantage) Previous work on rural or peri-urban mini-grid projects Experience with prepaid or smart metering systems Knowledge of REA / NERC mini-grid guidelines Experience producing feasibility studies or investor-ready documentation Access to local supplier networks in Edo State Engagement Type Contract / Project-based Duration: 2–4 weeks (with potential extension as project scales) Competitive professional fee (to be discussed) How to Apply Interested candidates should send: A brief profile or CV A short note describing similar projects or relevant experience Current location confirmation (Benin City / Edo State) Apply tot his job
