The New York State Workers' Compensation Board is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their Office of Financial Services/Bureau of Accounting. The role involves providing critical financial analysis, preparing financial statements, and ensuring accurate account reconciliations. Responsibilities Provide critical analysis of Special Fund revenues, expenditures and budgetary needs Retrieve and analyze data from Statewide Financial System (SFS) and other systems Complete WCB Special Revenue account reconciliations and Third Party Administrator (TPA) account reconciliations Prepare Financial Statements and supporting schedules for WCB Special Revenue Funds Present completed Financial Statements and supporting schedules for assigned WCB Special Revenue Funds to Associate Accountant and Accounts Team Perform general ledger journal entries, review general ledger transactions for accuracy and appropriateness Research and thoroughly document identified accounting issues, assist in making necessary corrections and ensure identified issues are appropriately resolved Complete daily and monthly bank reconciliation Complete daily and monthly investment reconciliation Review, analyze and track spending for WCB’s Special Revenue Funds, including accounts managed by procured (TPA) Ensure files submitted by TPA’s are timely, complete, and accurate. Work collaboratively with WCB program staff, finance staff and TPAs to resolve discrepancies Review daily, monthly, annual and/or periodic reports for accuracy and completion.
