Senior Azure Cloud Consultant
Overview Aviron Labs is a boutique, fully-remote AI engineering and software consultancy headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. We design and build practical AI-powered software solutions for our B2B clients, helping their teams work smarter and their businesses operate more efficiently. We are seeking an experienced Senior Azure Cloud Consultant to support and manage cloud environments for several small-to-mid-sized clients. This contractor will serve as an extension of our technical team, ensuring reliable cloud operations, optimizing client infrastructure, and helping drive strategic improvements across multiple Azure tenants. This consultant will work autonomously, balance multiple client environments, and bring structure, best practices, and clarity to cloud operations. In addition to day-to-day support, this role is expected to identify risks, recommend improvements, and guide clients toward mature, well-governed cloud environments. Responsibilities: • Manage and support multiple small Azure cloud environments across a diverse set of clients. • Provide advanced troubleshooting and root-cause analysis across Azure infrastructure, networking, identity, and security. • Provide ongoing cloud infrastructure maintenance, optimization, and cost-management recommendations. • Lead Azure migrations, environment cleanups, modernization efforts, and legacy cloud remediation. • Implement and refine Azure governance including resource groups, RBAC, policies, tagging, and monitoring. • Collaborate with internal team members to align cloud operations with client goals. • Prepare documentation, environment overviews, runbooks, and SOPs as needed. • Lead or participate in periodic check-ins and advisory meetings with clients. • Recommend enhancements that improve cloud reliability, security, and scalability. Required Qualifications: • Demonstrated hands-on expertise with Microsoft Azure in production environments. • Demonstrated success managing multiple small Azure tenants/environments simultaneously. • Strong understanding of the following: Azure AD / Entra ID Azure networking (VNets, NSGs, VPNs, routing) Virtual machines, scale sets, and containerized workloads Storage accounts, backups, and recovery services, Monitoring (Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Alerts) Security Center and Defender for Cloud. • Experience implementing Azure governance, cost management, and best-practice architecture. • Ability to work independently and manage priorities across several clients • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Preferred Qualifications: • Azure Certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, AZ-900, or similar). • Experience supporting SMB or startup-level clients. • Experience with automation tools (Bicep, ARM, Terraform, PowerShell). • Strong understanding of modern cloud infrastructure concepts (identity, networking, M365, security, RBAC) • Prior consulting experience or client-facing advisory roles. Soft Skills: • Highly organized with the ability to context-switch across clients. • Proactive and self-managing; identifies issues before they become problems. • Clear communicator who can translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders. • Trusted advisor mindset with the ability to guide clients through complex technical decisions. • Strong documentation and process-oriented mindset.
