About Microsoft Exploration and the Role Microsoft Exploration is a renowned research organization that is pushing the boundaries of artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science. As a Senior Jobs Data Analyst - Microsoft Technology, you will be joining a team of experts who are working on developing and applying responsible AI principles to ensure that AI systems are fair, transparent, and safe. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing core assets and tooling, collaborating with Microsoft product teams, and contributing to research projects that advance the state-of-the-art in AI research. You will be working on complex sociotechnical challenges, focusing on issues such as fairness, diversity, and inclusion, and developing solutions that mitigate potential harms caused by generative AI systems. Key Responsibilities Develop core assets and tooling for identifying, measuring, and mitigating potential harms caused by generative AI systems. Collaborate with Microsoft product teams to develop and apply techniques that are suitable for different systems, use cases, and deployment settings. Monitor research advances and apply them to shape applied science work. Contribute to and drive research projects that advance the state-of-the-art in AI research. Master new skills and apply them as needed, such as implementing new fairness measurement methods or preparing case studies and accompanying tests. Work with stakeholders with diverse backgrounds, including technical and non-technical stakeholders. Present work to internal and external stakeholders, including Microsoft leadership. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must have: A Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field, with 4+ years of relevant experience. A Graduate degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field, with 3+ years of relevant experience. A Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field, with 1+ year of relevant experience. Equivalent experience in a related field. Experience applying responsible AI principles, such as fairness and transparency, in practice. Experience coding in a general-purpose programming language, such as Python, Java, Scala, C#, or C/C++. Preferred Qualifications A Graduate degree in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field, with relevant experience. A Doctorate in Statistics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or a related field, with 3+ years of relevant experience. Experience working with large-scale language models and multimodal models. A strong interest in focusing on diversity, inclusion, and fairness. Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to have: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex data sets and develop insights. Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work with stakeholders with diverse backgrounds.
