Job Overview and Responsibilities The Senior Transit Information Service Specialist and Installation Lead position is a critical role within our organization, responsible for the application and installation of all pieces of transit information, including bus stop signs, long-term rider alerts, maps, holders, poles, and special installations. As a leader in our team, you will provide work direction to support staff, specifically the Transit Information Installer position, Transit Information Services Support Specialist, and vendors. Your key responsibilities will include: Overseeing inventory and maintaining accurate information within the database Tracking and reordering inventory as needed Serving as the primary point of contact between Street Operations and municipalities, coordinating routine maintenance of on-street signage Providing work direction and managing the assignment of daily work and special project work for installation staff Overseeing ongoing maintenance lists and ensuring the efficient and accurate resolution of issues Staying on top of upcoming changes and special projects, ensuring staff is available to complete work in a timely manner Identifying resource needs and working with management to procure necessary equipment Key Responsibilities and Duties In this role, you will be responsible for leading the signage implementation of new route information to bus stop signs prior to work pick and for weekly service changes. This will involve: Organizing lists of changes and scheduling staff as needed to apply decals Leading the effort to apply new route information decals to aluminum blanks prior to installation Verifying completed signs match pick or weekly service change information You will also be responsible for leading the installation of signage with updated transit information prior to work pick and for weekly service changes, including: Leading the effort to install new route information at all bus stops that have changes prior to work pick or weekly changes Arranging support staff as necessary based on volume of installation Documenting all completed signs and verifying installation matches instructions Leadership and Management Responsibilities As a leader in our team, you will be responsible for providing work direction and managing the assignment of daily work and special project work for installation staff. This will include: Assigning daily work and distributing work to Transit Information Installers Developing work plans for installation staff around audits and special assignments Reviewing and verifying work is complete and accurate Developing work plans for quarterly service changes and assigning and distributing work to Transit Information Installers Training installation staff and monitoring performance, developing performance coaching strategies as appropriate Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need to have: High School diploma/GED and two (2) years of experience in installation of Metro Transit signs, holders, displays, and poles within the region, along with installation requirements or related experience One (1) year of leadership experience, which may include training/mentoring employees, coaching, community leader, military, trainer, project lead, supervisory or management role A valid driver's license and good driving record In addition to these essential qualifications, we are looking for candidates with: Knowledge of Metro Transit's bus stop sign implementation project Proven ability working independently to meet work tasks and deadlines Experience working effectively with different departments and stakeholders Preferred Qualifications and Skills While not essential, we are looking for candidates with: Intermediate level skill in using Microsoft Excel Intermediate level skill in using DeviceMagic or comparable online database Skill in using various hardware and tools necessary for installation of bus stop signs, shelter signs, long-term rider alerts, maps, holders, poles, and special installations Ability to operate basic hand tools Ability to lead and direct the work of others Ability to read, write and communicate in English Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At the Metropolitan Council, we are committed to providing our employees with opportunities for career growth and development.
