As a valued member of our team, you will be responsible for repairing and maintaining electric, diesel, and gasoline vocational trucks, as well as performing various maintenance and repair tasks. At H&K Group, Inc., we offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience, as well as a comprehensive benefits package, including: 100% Company-paid Health Benefits 401(k) Savings and Investment Plan Tuition reimbursement programs available to qualifying employees for approved programs Additional training programs, including on-the-job, online through H&K Academy, manufacturer-offered training, and more Responsibilities As a Shop Mechanic 2nd Shift, your essential duties and responsibilities will include: Performing all work adhering to OSHA and H&K Safety policies Reading job orders and observing and listening to trucks or equipment in operation to determine malfunctions and plan work procedures Installing new ignition systems, aligning front wheels, changing or recharging batteries, and replacing transmissions and other parts Replacing gas or diesel engines Examining protective guards, loose bolts, and specified safety devices on trucks and equipment, and adjusting as needed Lubricating and servicing vehicles Fabricing special lifting or towing attachments, hydraulic systems, shields, or other devices according to schematic drawings Performing collision repair, sanding, prep, and painting Completing all standard maintenance on trucks and equipment and ensuring state inspection requirements are met for cars, trucks, and trailers Other duties as assigned Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must have: Required Skills, Education, and Experience: One-year certificate from an accredited college or technical school in diesel mechanics or a related field OR 2 years of related experience and/or training Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered Class A or B CDL or ability to obtain within one year Clean driving record Customer Service and Teamwork skills Mathematical Skills Willing and able to work a 2nd shift schedule Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to job) Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience: 4 years of related experience and/or training State Inspection license Experience working in heavy civil construction, road construction, or quarries OSHA, MSHA, or other relevant safety certifications Work Environment The work environment for this role can be physically demanding and may require: Occasionally standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing, climbing, balancing, and crawling Frequently stooping, crouching, and kneeling Using hands to finger, feel, and grasp Occasionally lifting and/or moving up to 75 pounds Working in a noisy environment Working outdoors in all environments Hours regularly exceeding 40 in a week and 8 in a day Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At H&K Group, Inc., we invest in our people and provide opportunities for growth and development.
