About the Role: Special Education Teacher - Deaf & Hard of Hearing (DHH) We're seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Special Education Teacher - Deaf & Hard of Hearing (DHH) to join our North Coastal Consortium for Special Education (NCCSE) SELPA team. This fully remote position offers the flexibility to work from anywhere, providing you with the opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of our students from the comfort of your preferred workspace. Key Responsibilities Plan and implement quality learning experiences tailored to the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing, ensuring their academic success and personal growth. Prepare semester plans and daily lesson plans that cater to the diverse learning needs of your students, promoting an engaging and stimulating classroom environment. Participate actively in the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, integrating IEP goals into your teaching practices to ensure each student's educational plan is effectively executed. Develop and implement assessment activities to evaluate student progress in relation to State standards, and prepare comprehensive reports on student learning outcomes. Foster a collaborative relationship with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders to ensure a cohesive support system for our students. Stay updated with best practices in special education and Deaf/Hard of Hearing education to continually enhance your teaching methodologies. Essential Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must possess: A bachelor's degree in Deaf Education or graduate studies in Deaf Education or a related field. A valid Education Specialist teaching credential with authorization in Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH), or an equivalent document issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing (CTC). Valid English Learner authorization (CLAD or equivalent document). Proficiency in signing (American Sign Language). Experience or education in areas such as learning disabilities, ESL, project-based learning, and team teaching is highly valued. Preferred Qualifications CPR and First Aid certification. Eligibility for or possession of an internship credential issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing. Experience working with students across various age groups, particularly preschool through 5th grade. Additionally, unit members who hold state certification and are employed in specific roles, including Deaf and Hard of Hearing, are eligible for a stipend of $4,500 after three years of consecutive full-time service.
