Class Code 27585: Airport Operations Worker Transfer job postings are for County of Sacramento employees only. In order to be qualified for a transfer: 1. You must meet the Minimum Qualifications of the new job. 2. The difference between the top salary steps (the highest pay rate within the range of pay) of your current job class and the job class that you intend to transfer into, must be less than 5%. There are three different transfer types that you may qualify for: interdepartmental transfer, interclass transfer, and voluntary demotion. These different transfer types are defined as: Interdepartmental transfer - a transfer in the same class from one County department to another. Interclass transfer - a transfer from one job class to a different job class. In addition, the difference between the top salary steps (the highest pay rate within the range of pay) of your current job class and the job class that you intend to transfer into, must be less than 5%. Voluntary demotion - a transfer into a job class that pays less than 95% of your current class salary. If you are requesting an interclass transfer or voluntary demotion, either action is a change in class. Whether the change is a transfer or a demotion depends upon the difference between the maximum salary rates of the requested and incumbent classes. Personnel Ordinance, Section 2.78.294, or the applicable labor agreement sets the criteria for determining the maximum difference allowed. Personnel Ordinance, Section 2.78.228 defines demotion. Under supervision, Airport Operation Workers perform a wide variety of general and routine duties in the areas of airport security, airfield operations, traffic/parking control, customer service, and other airport operations activities. Knowledge of Customer service techniques including conflict resolution Proper methods for lifting and carrying heavy or awkward loads Basic keyboard and computer use Basic recordkeeping practices and principles Ability to Learn, apply, and explain local, state and federal regulations regarding airport operations and passenger terminal support activities Learn to operate communications equipment including radios, pagers and telephones Communicate courteously and effectively with a variety of individuals Read, write and speak English at a level necessary for satisfactory job performance Organize and maintain accurate files, records and logs Read and interpret information from statistical charts, graphs, tables and maps Safely operate a variety of airport vehicles, automobiles and trucks Establish and maintain effective working relationships during the performance of duties Work safely under hazardous or emergency conditions Minimum Qualifications Either: 1. One (1) year of experience working with customers in an airport, airbase, or other aviation related environment that included applying and interpreting rules or regulations related to airport operations, providing and explaining complex information related to airport operations, and regularly handling related complaints. Note: Retail, restaurant, or hospitality experience in an airport, airbase, or other aviation environment is not qualifying. Or: 2. One (1) year of experience performing safety/security duties with responsibility for monitoring and inspecting facilities, working with customers and applying and interpreting rules or regulations, providing and explaining complex information, and regularly handling related complaints. Or. 3. One (1) year of experience performing traffic and/or parking control and enforcement duties with responsibility for working with customers and applying and interpreting rules or regulations, providing and explaining complex information, and regularly handling related complaints. Note: Education from an accredited college or university in a field, such as Airport Operations Management, Aviation, or security, that is directly related to the knowledge and abilities specified for this class may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis (30 semester units or 45 quarter units = one year of experience). Note: The word "experience" referenced in the minimum qualifications means full-time paid experience unless the minimum qualification states that volunteer experience is acceptable. Part-time paid experience may be accumulated and pro-rated to meet the total experience requirements. Note: If the minimum qualifications include an educational or certificate/license requirement, applicants must submit proof of requirements with the application. General Qualifications Background and Criminal History Check: The County may access criminal history information on candidates who have accepted a conditional offer of appointment within this class consistent with the provisions of Board of Supervisors Resolution No. 82-602, Personnel Policies and Procedure B-5 and applicable federal and state law. The County shall not consider for employment any candidate who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor that relates to or impacts the candidate's ability to perform the job duties of this class unless it is determined that mitigating circumstances exist. A subsequent arrest notification may be obtained. The County may also conduct a background check on the candidate prior to appointment to a position within this class. The background check may include personal and professional reference checks, credit history checks, Social Security Number verification, professional license/registration verification, military service information and driving history. Information obtained in the course of this background check will be considered by the appointing authority in the selection process. In obtaining such information, the County will comply with applicable consent and disclosure practices in the Fair Credit Reporting Act and the California Investigative Consumer Reporting Agencies Act. Special Access: Incumbents in this class must acquire and maintain an airport security badge allowing access to secure County airport locations. License and Permit Requirements: A valid California Driver License, Class C or higher, is required at the time of appointment. Additionally, incumbents must acquire and maintain an Air Operations Area Driver Permit issued by the SCAS within two weeks of appointment. Failure to obtain or maintain either the appropriate California Driver License or SCAS Air Operations Area Driver Permit may constitute cause for personnel action in accordance with Civil Service Rules or the applicable bargaining agreement. Individuals who do not meet this requirement due to disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis. Working Conditions: Incumbents in this class must be willing to work: • Irregular hours (day, swing, or graveyard shift), holidays and weekends, and rotating shifts • At various locations within Sacramento County • In extreme weather conditions, excessive noise, dust, pollen, fumes and odors • While wearing a uniform and/or protective clothing Physical Requirements: • Stand, walk, bend, and stoop for long periods of time • Move with agility in and around areas congested with traffic and people • Lift and carry up to 50 pounds • Visually distinguish colors Individuals who do not meet these requirements due to disability will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.
