[adinserter block="1"] Job title: Conservation Specialist Company: Wake County Government [adinserter block="1"] Job description: What You'll Be Doing The Conservation Specialist will support the District Director with all office administration and operations of the Wake Soil and Water Conservation District office. The Specialist will provide support to Natural Resource Conservationists in all aspects of both technical and office work. This position will also process all financial disbursements and procurement card services for Wake Soil and Water District. Position is responsible for compiling various fiscal reports, resolving difficult and/or complex billing issues, and ensuring compliance of fiscal policies, procedures and protocols for all expenditures. The Specialist will provide support to the Wake District Board of Supervisors by documenting and recording District Board meeting minutes, setting monthly agendas, processing District Supervisor travel reimbursements, host remote meetings, and all other requests from the District Board of Supervisors. This position will lead the planning and coordination of the annual Keeping the Farm Workshop, annual awards banquet, and the Soil and Water field day for the Resource Conservation Workshop with NC State University, and other Conservation Districts partners. The Specialist will also participate in administrative and planning duties that will involve District Business Plan, Annual Report, NC Agricultural Cost Share Strategy Plan, Annual Spot Checks, expansion budgets and attending staff meetings. The Specialist will will also support the Farmland Preservation Program. This position will maintain the Wake Soil and Water District webpages and will be responsible for creating and publishing the District's quarterly newsletter. Information and Education Responsibilities: assists in conducting Wake County Big Sweep, Envirothon, field days, and other public information activities. The Basics (Required Education and Experience) Bachelor's degree in Natural Resources, Conservation or related field One year of experience in conservation work Equivalent education and experience are accepted Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience) Exceptional ability to show initiative, follow through, and accuracy in work Excellent Customer Service skills, positive attitude, willingness to take on a variety of projects to support the work of a Conservation District Experience working on budgets, taking Board minutes, processing travel reimbursements and managing multiple projects simultaneously Prior use of financial software and ability to learn other computer applications Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Experience working with soil and water conservation Districts, organizing and planning outreach events, working with farm or forest landowners Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) How Will We Know You're 'The One'?
