The Legal Department plays a vital role in this endeavor, and as a Legal Intern, you will be an integral part of the team. The Summer 2025 Legal Internship Program is designed to provide a comprehensive and immersive experience in publishing law. Over ten weeks, you will work closely with the PRH Legal team to: Conduct legal research on various topics, including defamation, copyright, and trademark law Review books for potential legal concerns and provide feedback Draft contracts and other legal documents Assist in tackling the challenges associated with being a global publisher Participate in weekly virtual programming to learn about different departments within the company Key Responsibilities and Expectations As a Legal Intern at Penguin Random House, you will be expected to: Work four days a week (Monday through Thursday) for ten weeks, starting from June 9, 2025, to August 18, 2025 Put in 28 hours a week, with flexibility to manage your schedule remotely Engage with the PRH Legal team and contribute to the team's efforts Develop your skills in legal research, writing, and analysis Participate in virtual programming and networking opportunities Essential and Preferred Qualifications To be considered for this prestigious internship, you should: Be a first-year law student with a strong academic record Have a passion for publishing law and a keen interest in the book industry Possess excellent research, writing, and analytical skills Be proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software Be able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team Preferred qualifications include: Previous experience in a law firm, publishing company, or related industry Knowledge of publishing law, including copyright, defamation, and trademark law Familiarity with the book publishing industry and its key players Strong communication and interpersonal skills Skills and Competencies Required for Success To excel as a Legal Intern at Penguin Random House, you should possess: Strong research and analytical skills , with the ability to distill complex information into clear and concise insights Excellent writing and communication skills , with the ability to craft compelling arguments and present findings effectively A keen eye for detail , with the ability to review documents and identify potential issues A collaborative mindset , with the ability to work effectively with colleagues and contribute to team efforts A passion for learning , with a willingness to absorb new information and take on new challenges Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in publishing law and develop valuable skills that will benefit your future career.
