Area Director of Finance
Job Summary The Area Director of Finance is a senior leadership role responsible for overseeing financial operations across multiple regional units. This position requires strategic oversight of financial planning, reporting, compliance, and risk management to ensure the organization’s fiscal health aligns with its mission and objectives. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in accounting standards such as IFRS and GAAP, along with strong leadership capabilities to guide financial teams and support business development initiatives within a complex organizational structure. Responsibilities • Lead the development and execution of strategic financial plans that support organizational growth and sustainability. • Oversee all aspects of corporate accounting, including general ledger reconciliation, accounts payable and receivable, and cost control measures. • Ensure compliance with regulatory reporting requirements and maintain adherence to IAS, IFRS, GAAP, ASC 606, and other relevant accounting standards. • Manage treasury functions including cash flow analysis, investment management, and risk assessment to optimize financial resources. • Prepare comprehensive financial reports, interpret financial statements, and communicate insights to executive leadership for informed decision-making. • Conduct risk analysis and implement risk management strategies to mitigate financial exposure. • Oversee budgeting processes, forecasting activities, and cost management initiatives across the region. • Lead financial software implementation and ensure accurate account analysis, account reconciliation, and balance sheet management. • Support business development efforts through financial modeling, profit & loss analysis, revenue management, and strategic planning. • Collaborate with external auditors on public accounting activities and ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements. • Provide leadership in technical accounting areas such as accrual accounting, revenue recognition, and compliance management within nonprofit or governmental contexts as applicable. Requirements • Proven experience in corporate finance with a strong background in financial management within nonprofit or governmental sectors preferred. • Extensive knowledge of IAS, IFRS, GAAP, ASC 606 standards along with expertise in regulatory reporting and compliance management. • Demonstrated ability in strategic planning, risk analysis, investment management, and fiscal management. • Proficiency with financial software systems coupled with strong skills in financial report writing and interpretation. • Exceptional leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams across multiple regions or units. • Strong analytical skills in cost accounting, account analysis, profit & loss statements, budget forecasting, and cash flow analysis. • Excellent communication skills capable of translating complex financial concepts into clear insights for diverse audiences. • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; advanced certifications such as CPA or CFA are highly desirable.
