Job Summary We are seeking qualified Assistant Football Coaches to assist in the planning, development, and implementation of our interscholastic sports program at South Eugene High School. As an Assistant Football Coach, you will work closely with our head coach and other team members to design and deliver high-quality coaching, training, and mentorship to our student-athletes. Your expertise and guidance will help our team achieve excellence, both on and off the field. Key Responsibilities Assist in the planning, organization, and coordination of the football program, including practices, games, and training sessions Develop and implement effective coaching techniques, strategies, and training programs to enhance athlete performance and sports knowledge Provide individualized instruction, feedback, and guidance to student-athletes to promote their athletic and personal growth Collaborate with the head coach and other team members to assess team performance, identify areas for improvement, and develop game strategies Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive team culture that promotes sportsmanship, teamwork, and academic excellence Ensure compliance with district policies, procedures, and regulations, as well as Oregon High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) rules and guidelines Participate in team meetings, coaching clinics, and other professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices and trends in coaching and sports education Essential Qualifications Two years of experience as an interscholastic sports coach, preferably at the high school level Minimum age of 22 years or be a college graduate Possession of a valid Red Cross First Aid Certificate, including CPR training methods and procedures Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with diverse students, staff, and community populations Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide clear instructions, feedback, and guidance Preferred Qualifications Experience working as a teacher in a secondary setting Earned baccalaureate or higher degree from an accredited college or university in physical education or a closely related area Possession of a valid credential authorizing service as a secondary physical education or related area secondary level teacher Bilingual proficiency and/or multicultural experience Prior experience coaching football, specifically in the areas of Offensive/Defensive Line, Wide Receiver/Defensive Back, or Running Back/Linebackers at the varsity level Skills and Competencies Knowledge of principles, goals, and objectives of public education and interscholastic sports programs Understanding of policies, regulations, and procedures pertaining to interscholastic sports performances Ability to analyze and assess interscholastic sports program needs and offer recommendations for program activity revisions, additions, or deletions Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to establish and maintain positive relationships with students, staff, and the community Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations and promote inclusivity and equity Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits The Eugene School District 4J is committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our coaches and staff.
