Job Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and passionate Moderate to Intense Intervention Specialist Teacher to join our team at the Metzenbaum Center. As a lead teacher in our specialized resource room, you will play a vital role in providing individualized instruction and support to students with severe to profound cognitive, communication, social, and emotional needs. Key Responsibilities Establish productive relationships with students, staff members, administrators, and family members to create a collaborative and supportive learning environment. Develop and teach engaging lessons that are grounded in best practices and research-based methods, using positive behavioral strategies to support a high-quality learning environment. Collaborate with other staff members, including speech, occupational, and physical therapists, to design and implement customized learning plans for students with complex needs. Provide accommodations, modifications, and interventions to students with disabilities, and provide specialized instruction in one-on-one and small group settings. Complete written progress reports and participate in regularly scheduled team meetings to discuss student progress and determine priorities for individualized educational needs. Maintain accurate and complete student records, and assist in the collection of data to inform instruction and intervention strategies. Essential Qualifications ODE Teaching License with a specialization in Special Education or a Bachelor's degree in a related field. Experience working with students with severe and multiple disabilities, or a willingness to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge. Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with students, staff members, administrators, and family members. A passionate, collaborative, and energetic disposition, with a commitment to professional development and ongoing learning. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and use sound judgment in all aspects of the role. Proficiency in computer applications, including MS Office Suite, email, and internet, with the ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and possess a valid Ohio driver's license. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in a specialized resource room or similar setting, with a strong understanding of best practices in special education. Knowledge of positive behavioral strategies and techniques, with the ability to implement these strategies in a supportive and inclusive learning environment. Experience with assistive technology and adaptive equipment, with the ability to integrate these tools into instruction and intervention strategies. A strong understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and the ability to develop and implement these plans in collaboration with other staff members and family members. Skills and Competencies Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities. Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze data and inform instruction and intervention strategies. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a transdisciplinary team, with a strong understanding of the importance of communication and teamwork in supporting student success.
