About Us Erie 1 BOCES Alternative Education EDGE Academy is part of the Erie 1 Board of Cooperative Educational Services, a leading educational organization dedicated to providing innovative and effective learning solutions. Our Alternative Education program is designed for students who require a non-traditional educational setting, and we're looking for an Art Teacher who can provide engaging and inspiring instruction. Key Responsibilities Provide instruction in Art, tailored to the needs of students in an alternative education setting Prepare lesson plans that meet stated objectives and make optimum use of class time Evaluate student performance, knowledge, and skills in Art, and provide remediation as necessary Collaborate with other professional staff members to assess and help students solve attitude and learning problems Communicate with parents on individual student progress and other areas of concern Maintain accurate and complete student records, and guide pupils in the selection and performance of appropriate activities Supervise pupils in and out of the classroom, and assist in establishing and maintaining standards of pupil conduct Participate in faculty meetings, advisory committee meetings, and workshops/conferences to maintain professional growth Requisition books, instructional aids, equipment, and supplies as required, and assist in the storage and maintenance of materials and property Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Master's Degree in Art Education or a related field (a stipend of $1750 is provided for a Master's Degree) A valid New York State teaching certification in Art Experience teaching Art in a similar educational setting (alternative education or special education) Excellent communication and interpersonal skills The ability to work with students who have diverse needs and abilities Preferred Qualifications Experience with curriculum development and implementation Knowledge of Differentiated Instruction and Universal Design for Learning Experience working with students who have behavioral or emotional challenges Familiarity with NYS Art standards and curriculum What We Offer We provide an exceptional package that includes: A competitive salary ($46,138 to $55,856, commensurate with experience) Paid Holidays and generous Paid Personal/Sick time Premium Health and Dental plans (E1B pays 85%) Medical Insurance waiver allowance Life insurance at NO cost to you FSA plan NYS Retirement System and 403b AND 457 retirement plans Employee Centric work environment with fun events for employees to enjoy A commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Career Growth Opportunities At Erie 1 BOCES Alternative Education EDGE Academy, we're committed to supporting the professional growth of our staff.
