Job Summary: Director of Recreational Therapy As the Director of Recreational Therapy, you'll be responsible for leading our Recreational Services department, driving operational excellence, and delivering high-quality patient care. This pivotal role requires a strong blend of clinical expertise, leadership acumen, and business savvy. You'll oversee departmental staff, develop and implement strategic plans, and ensure compliance with regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities: Provide visionary leadership to the Recreational Therapy Department, driving staff development and departmental growth. Coordinate and supervise departmental operations, ensuring seamless delivery of recreational therapy services. Develop and implement performance improvement initiatives, driving quality patient care and operational efficiency. Formulate and manage departmental budgets, ensuring fiscal responsibility and resource optimization. Foster a culture of safety, quality, and compassion, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including administration, physicians, and healthcare providers, to ensure comprehensive patient care. Develop and maintain departmental policies, procedures, and standards, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Provide education and training to staff, promoting professional development and clinical excellence. Maintain accurate and timely records, preparing reports on departmental performance, utilization, and outcomes. Essential Qualifications: Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy, Music Therapy, Art Therapy, or a related field. Current State Licensure or certification. Minimum 2 years of experience in behavioral health care, with at least 2 years in a management role within a Recreational Activities Department or related field. Current BCLS certification. Proficient in Microsoft Office applications. Preferred Qualifications: Experience in a leadership role within a behavioral health care setting. Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, including OSHA, NFPA, Life Safety, and NEC Electrical Codes. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. Exceptional leadership and management skills, with a proven track record of driving departmental success. Skills and Competencies: Demonstrates excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with patients, families, and healthcare professionals. Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, with a strong sense of initiative and accountability. Flexibility and adaptability, with the ability to navigate complex and dynamic environments. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and handling crisis situations with professionalism and compassion.
