Job Summary We're seeking an experienced and talented Elementary Music Educator to lead our remote instructional music program. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a comprehensive elementary music instructional program that engages and inspires our students. You'll work with a diverse population of students, leveraging your expertise and creativity to deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning and musical growth. Key Responsibilities Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lesson plans and instructional materials that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities Utilize relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction, ensuring that all students have access to high-quality music education Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules, expectations, and procedures that promote a positive and productive learning environment Monitor student progress, adjust teaching strategies as needed, and communicate with parents and guardians to keep them informed about their child's musical development Facilitate general music, chorus, and instrumental lessons, adapting your teaching approach to meet the needs of students with varying skill levels and abilities Demonstrate a commitment to the success of all students, regardless of their cultural, economic, or ability background Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in music education and enhance your teaching skills Collaborate with colleagues and other stakeholders to promote music education and contribute to the overall success of our district Qualifications and Requirements To be considered for this role, you must possess or be eligible for Connecticut Music Education certification. We're looking for candidates with a strong background in elementary music education, as well as: Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to deliver elementary music content that aligns with state and national standards Experience working with diverse student populations, including those from varied cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds Ability to relate successfully with staff, families, and students from diverse backgrounds, experiences, and skill levels Proven ability to implement differentiated instruction and build upon the strengths and challenges of a multi-cultural and multi-racial classroom/district Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, parents, and students Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience with remote instruction and online teaching platforms Knowledge of music education technology and digital tools Background in teaching chorus, instrumental music, or other specialized music programs Experience working with students with diverse needs, including those with special needs or English language learners What We Offer As an Elementary Music Educator with Danbury Public Schools, you'll enjoy a competitive salary and a comprehensive benefits package.
