Experienced Food Services Staff Member – Part-Time Opportunity (4 Hours) in a Dynamic School Environment

Job Summary As a Food Services Staff Member, you will be responsible for providing support to our food service activities, preparing and serving food items to students and staff, and maintaining our facilities and equipment in a safe and sanitary condition. Key Responsibilities Arrange food and beverage items, set up equipment, and serve assigned items to students and staff in an efficient manner Attend unit meetings, in-service training, workshops, and other events to gather information and perform job functions Clean utensils, equipment, and storage, food preparation, and serving areas to maintain required sanitary conditions Evaluate prepared food items to verify quantity, quality, and specifications of orders, and comply with mandated health standards Inspect food items and supplies to verify quantity, quality, and specifications of orders, and comply with health standards Inventorize food, condiments, and supplies to ensure availability of items required for meeting projected menu requirements Maintain equipment, storage, food preparation, and serving areas in a sanitary condition, complying with current health standards Monitor kitchen and cafeteria areas to ensure a safe and sanitary working environment Perform functions of other nutritional services positions, as requested by supervisor, to ensure adequate staff coverage Prepare food and beverage items, such as potatoes, rice, and other menu items, to meet mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements Serve one or more items of food to meet mandated nutritional requirements and requests of students and school personnel Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A High School diploma or equivalent 1-3 years of experience working in the food service industry, preferably in a school district Understanding of food and facility safety and sanitation practices Experience operating equipment found in a commercial kitchen Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills Ability to perform basic math and understand multi-step written and oral instructions Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects simultaneously High degree of motivation, responsibility, and confidentiality Demonstrated ability in compiling, organizing, and utilizing data Ability to problem-solve with data and equipment Ability to work under direct supervision in a fast-paced work environment with constant interruptions Highly collaborative team player Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, etc.) Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Previous experience working in a school district or similar environment Certification in food safety and sanitation Experience with inventory management and control Knowledge of nutritional guidelines and meal planning Ability to speak multiple languages Physical Requirements This position requires the performance of medium work, exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. The position involves frequent balancing, lifting, carrying, climbing, feeling, fine finger dexterity, grasping, pushing, and/or pulling; occasional walking, crawling, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and stooping. The position generally involves 75% standing, 5% sitting, and 20% walking. This job is performed under temperature extremes and in some hazardous conditions that are typical in commercial kitchens.
