About the Role In this role, you will have the opportunity to develop your expertise in medical transcription, working independently to transcribe medical and related information from physician's notes and dictation. You will utilize your knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy to ensure accurate documentation, and confer with pathologists to clarify any unclear terminology or questionable information. Your work will be instrumental in ensuring that all healthcare services provided at Bristol Hospital are accurately documented, allowing us to maintain the highest standards of patient care. Key Responsibilities As a Medical Transcription Specialist, your key responsibilities will include: Transcription Functions: Transcribe medical and related information from physician's notes and dictation with accuracy and efficiency Utilize knowledge of medical terminology and anatomy to ensure accurate documentation Confer with pathologists to clarify unclear terminology or other questionable information General Clerical Functions: Pull slides and blocks for patient referral, clinician referral, and diagnostic testing File surgical slides and blocks Scan reference lab reports, physician orders, and documents into patient records Retrieve slides for tumor board conferences Pull monthly pathology department statistics Facilitate surgical slides to pathologists Accession surgical specimens as needed Perform various clerical duties as required Essential and Preferred Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications: Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and physiology Excellent listening skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently with minimal supervision Strong organizational and time management skills Proficiency in transcription software and technology Preferred qualifications include: Experience in medical transcription, preferably in a hospital or healthcare setting Certification as a Medical Transcriptionist (CMT) or Registered Medical Transcriptionist (RMT) Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion Skills and Competencies Required for Success To excel in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: Technical Skills: proficiency in transcription software and technology, including electronic health records (EHRs) and transcription platforms Communication Skills: strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with healthcare professionals and other stakeholders Attention to Detail: strong attention to detail, with the ability to accurately transcribe medical records and identify errors or discrepancies Time Management: strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines Adaptability: ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines, with a flexible and positive attitude Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Bristol Hospital Inc., we are committed to supporting the career growth and development of our employees.
